James Adams is the CEO of Tech Educators and founder of Digital Skills Assessment. He led Tech Educators to a Strong in all areas Ofsted rating, sits on a number of digital skills boards, and supports startups and businesses in understanding the digital skills divide.
He built the Digital Skills Assessment platform because he saw the gap between what legacy tools measure and what learners actually need. Traditional assessments test recall with fixed question banks. Adaptive assessment, powered by Item Response Theory, measures genuine ability and builds a complete picture of every learner in minutes.

Computerised Adaptive Testing
Every question adapts to the learner's ability in real time using a three-parameter logistic IRT model. No two assessments are alike, and results are reliable in as few as 15–20 questions per subject.

Results map simultaneously to Pearson (BTEC), BCS, NCFE, City & Guilds, and OCNLR frameworks. Providers choose the standard that fits their learner pathways.
