For FE Colleges

Accurate Initial Assessment for Further Education.

Precision diagnostics that place every learner on the right pathway from day one. Evidence-backed results with full audit trails, covering Entry Level 1 to Level 3, mapped to five awarding body frameworks for digital and three for English and maths. Review of Digital against the DfE Essential Digital Skills Standards 2026 (published 15 July 2026) is in pre-pilot validation, including the new Level 2 tier and embedded AI skills.

The Challenge

FE Colleges Need More Than a Pass/Fail Score.

Placing learners correctly matters. An inaccurate initial assessment means learners on the wrong course, wasted funding, and poor outcomes. Colleges need diagnostics that reveal the full picture, not just a headline number.

Quality & Compliance

Ofsted expects evidence of accurate initial assessment informing individual learning plans. Timestamped, domain-level results deliver exactly that.

Funding Evidence

ASF and other funding streams require documented initial assessment. Exportable reports with learner identifiers and working levels make audit preparation straightforward.

Learner Pathways

Spiky profiles reveal where each learner is strong and where they need support, enabling curriculum teams to personalise learning plans from the first session.

Platform Features

Everything Your College Needs.

Ofsted-Ready Evidence

Timestamped results, audit trails, and exportable reports that satisfy quality and compliance teams.

Spiky Profiles

Domain-by-domain breakdowns showing exactly where each learner is strong and where support is needed.

Awarding Body Aligned

Digital results automatically mapped to Pearson, NCFE, City & Guilds, BCS, and OCNLR; English and maths to Pearson, NCFE, and City & Guilds.

Multi-Subject Coverage

Digital Skills, English, and Maths in one platform. Run individually or as a combination assessment.

Cohort Management

Organisation dashboard with team management, learner tracking, and aggregated reporting.

Mobile-First Design

Learners complete assessments on any device. Over 60% attempt theirs on a phone.

15-25 Minute Assessments

Adaptive testing finishes when accuracy is sufficient. No wasted time on questions that are too easy or too hard.

API and E-Portfolio Ready

A documented REST API with a published OpenAPI specification and a sandbox, so results reach the systems your team already uses. Generate credentials yourself in the dashboard.

Evidence Pack Export

One zip per cohort or date range: an RQF-levelled results CSV, prior attainment inputs, and tamper-evident assessment PDFs. Built for the funding audit, not just for reporting.

See the integrations page for how results reach OneFile, Aptem, Maytas, Bud, PICS and Smart Assessor, and the Evidence Pack Export for what your funding audit trail looks like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every assessment generates timestamped results with domain-level breakdowns, exportable as PDF or CSV. Results include the learner's working level, strengths, and areas for development, providing the specific evidence Ofsted inspectors look for during quality reviews.

Yes. The platform is cloud-based with no concurrency limits. You can share a single assessment link with an entire cohort and learners complete it independently on any device. Results appear in your dashboard in real time.

The platform covers English and Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, and Digital Skills up to Level 3. A combination assessment option covers all three subjects in one sitting for 2 credits instead of 3. An AI readiness assessment is also available.

Results are automatically mapped to Pearson (BTEC), BCS (ICDL), NCFE, City & Guilds, and OCNLR frameworks. There is no need to pre-select a standard. Note: assessments are aligned to these frameworks; we are not endorsed by or certified by these awarding bodies.

Yes. Digital Skills Assessment publishes a documented REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 specification and a sandbox, so results, including the RQF level placement and the below-Level-1 entitlement flag, flow into your MIS or e-portfolio as structured data. Your organisation admin generates API credentials directly in the platform; there is no partnership agreement and no sales call. Your team can poll for new results incrementally or receive them by signed webhook. CSV and PDF exports remain available for teams that prefer them. See our integrations page for what this means for OneFile, Aptem, Maytas, Bud, PICS and Smart Assessor.
