Accessibility statement for Digital Skills Assessment
This accessibility statement applies to www.digitalskillsassessment.co.uk, including the public website, the free demo, and the learner assessment experience for Functional Skills (English, maths and digital), AI readiness, and Big Five personality assessments.
This website is run by Digital Skills Assessment. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- complete a full assessment using only a keyboard
- navigate the website using speech recognition software
- listen to the website using a screen reader, including announcements when the adaptive engine loads a new question
- zoom in up to 400% without content overlapping or requiring horizontal scrolling
- increase the question text size during an assessment using the built-in control
- use the website on any device, including mobile phones
Assessments have no time limit. The adaptive engine finishes when it has enough information, and an inactivity prompt only checks you are still there — it never removes access to an in-progress assessment.

How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- a small number of decorative hover states and low-emphasis interface elements may fall below the enhanced contrast level (AAA); all body text, controls and question content meet the AA threshold
- some older PDF reports generated before 31 July 2026 were not tagged for screen readers; reports generated after this date use a consistent, machine-readable layout

Target: reports generated from August 2026 onwards use the updated accessible layout.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
- automated accessibility checks run in our continuous integration pipeline on every code change, so new contrast or markup regressions fail the build before release
- every question type — multiple choice, sequencing, gap fill, text correction and image hotspot — has a keyboard-operable interaction, including an arrow-key crosshair for hotspot questions
- question changes are announced to screen readers via a polite live region
- manual keyboard and screen reader passes are part of our release checklist

This website was last tested on 31 July 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. The test was carried out internally by the Digital Skills Assessment engineering team, using automated testing (axe-core) across the homepage, pricing, demo, product, provider and login pages plus a full learner assessment journey, together with a manual keyboard walkthrough of every assessment question type and a code-level review of screen reader announcements, focus order and zoom behaviour.
